Ordinance #241 - Winter Sump Pumps

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11 OF THE MARION CITY ORDINANCES PROVIDING FOR THE ALLOWANCE OF THE CONNECTION OF SUMP PUMP LINES TO THE CITY SEWER SYSTEM BY PERMIT FROM NOVEMBER TO APRIL OF EACH YEAR.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MARION, SOUTH DAKOTA:

            That Chapter 11 of the Marion City Ordinances is hereby amended to include a new section 11.0104.1 which shall read as follows:

That from November 1st to April 1st of each year the City Superintendent may allow sump pump connections to be made to the City sewer system when such connection is necessary to avoid the accumulation of ice on City streets or sidewalks and when such connection will not unduly burden the City sewer system.  Any connection to the City sewer system shall be by Permit granted by the City Superintendent, and may be revoked upon any reasonable cause by the City Superintendent, including, but not limited to, any connection that in the opinion of the City Superintendent places an undue burden on the City sewer system.
